Sur Samvad | A musical conversation, a Jugalbandi!

Sur Samvad | A musical conversation, a Jugalbandi!

Amongst the present-day keepers of the age-old Agra style of singing, Sanjukta Biswas and Sabina Mumtaz Islam present an evolved & intricate duet genre called Jugalbandi, literally meaning entwined. At once collaborating to weave a complex soundscape, each remains a nucleus of their individual craft when it comes to these magical renditions.

Both Sanjukta and Sabina have held a rigorous training record since their early years. Few can claim their phenomenal run as scholars at the celebrated, one-of-a-kind ITC Sangeet Research Academy/ Kolkata. Most importantly, there they mastered the vocal art in the ancient style of knowledge transmission, the Guru-Shishya parampara.

The close proximity and bond between the master and the disciple allowed for creating and retaining a total measure of classical musicianship of the highest level in the upcoming shishyas. This then is what Sabina and Sanjukta bring to the stage - a blend of alluring, mellifluous voices, which at times merge as one force & depart so seamlessly like the breeze to invent new expressions, with complete mastery over the play with rhythm. And above all the blessings of their learned

Gurus - Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Vidushi Subhra Guha, and the late legendary Padmashree Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu.

"Brace yourselves, for the wind beneath their wings is their own individual genius, and in their creative journey. and quest, also lies the joy and liberation of the world that listens!"

Joe Cirotti Trio
Joe Cirotti Trio, a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge, fuses their multi-instrumentalist upbringings with a passion for the roots of American folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass. Their bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for roots music and whiskey.

The lazy Sky:
Born out of a weekly bluegrass pick in rural New Jersey, The Lazy Sky is captivating audiences across the state. With their exciting interpretations of instrumental bluegrass tunes, cathartic originals, and choice cover songs, The Lazy Sky is not to be missed. Beautiful three part harmonies, interwoven with virtuoso picking and improvisation makes every show unique and exciting.

The story narrates the journey of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk from his childhood years to the National Struggle. In 1915, Mustafa Kemal faced a significant challenge at the Gallipoli front. However, there were other battles ahead of him. He would engage in a great struggle against the Russians on the Eastern Front and against the British on the Syrian front, eventually becoming the only Ottoman officer who did not lose in World War I. However, upon his return to Istanbul after these great victories at the fronts, a nasty surprise awaits Mustafa Kemal.

Anna, a detached and diffident director, arrives in Germany to show her latest film; she checks into a hotel, invites a stranger to her bed, and abruptly tells him to leave. He asks her to a birthday lunch with his mother and daughter; she goes. Afterward, in Cologne, she meets an old friend, a Polish Jew and war refugee. In Brussels, she spends the night at a hotel with her mother, whom she rarely sees. On the train, a stranger tells his story. Last, it's home to Paris, where her lover Daniel picks her up and they go to a hotel. Throughout, people make personal revelations to her, and Anna listens with little affect.
