Based on Fassbinder’s own play, The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant is considered R.W. Fassbinder’s magnum opus and features an all-female cast.  Following the titular character, an esteemed yet emotionally unavailable couturier, Petra recently divorced her second husband, Frank, and becomes obsessed with Karin Thimme, a beautiful yet superficial 23-year-old woman.
